Study Island

Study Island is a good way to help review for the upcoming test. The lessons you can view are:
  • Factorization
  • Counting Money
  • Place Value
  • Adding and Subtracting Decimals
  • Unit Relationships
  • Convert Similar Units

Students can play games to review these skills.

Math Test

We will be having a math test on Wednesday December 22.


The study guide is attached for viewing if you would like to review it. We will be going over it Monday and Tuesday in class.

This week in learning

Class News Reporter: Luke D.

Spelling This week in spelling we were doing ear,ir,our,and ur here are some examples;early,return,birthday,and courage.

Reading We read the story So You Want to Be President? We focused on the skills main idea and details.

Writing This week in writing we were working on possessive plural nouns.

Math This week in math we were working on decimals.

Upcoming News:

Next week is a review week for Reading. We will not have spelling, fluency, or group books.

In math we will be working on measurement. Students will need to work on the metric system of measurement. Our test will be Wednesday, December 22.

This week in reading we were working on fact and opinion.
Writing
This week in writing we were working on singular possessive nouns here are some examples;dog changes to dog's.
Vocabulary
This week in vocabulary we were doing compound words. Our tested vocabulary was difficult, but we worked really hard at learning these new words.
Math
This week in math we were doing decimals.
Spelling
This week in spelling we were doing ng,nk,ph,wh here are some examples;among,think,graph,and nephew.

The Student Writer - Luke D.

Spelling
This week in spelling we did -or and -ar words. Some examples: morning,apartment,and Florida.
Grammar
In grammar this week we were working on regular plural nouns and irregular plural nouns.
Math
In math this week we were talking about polygons. Some examples: square,rectangle,and triangle. We will have a math test on Tuesday, November 23.
Reading
In reading, we read the play Scene Two it was about this class that wanted to put on a play about the town's history.
Assembly
We had an Assembly on Thursday,November 18,2010. It was about having good character. The person putting on the show was a guy from PBS. He showed us some magic and taught us how to share our "light".

Next Week:
We only have a three day week so we will not be doing Reading Street. So there will be no Spelling or Vocabulary.

Report Cards

Remember report cards go home today! I am pleased to announce we have 15 students on honor roll. I am very pleased with the hardworking students in my class.

Coming soon a student writer! I will be having students writing the blog posts. It is my hope that the blog will be updated every Friday. The students will post the happenings of the week and give a sneak peek into the following week. Keep an eye out for the postings.

Subtraction Target Practice



Today in Math, students from Mr. MacFarland's class reviewed subtraction. They learned the Everday Math game, "Subtraction Target Practice" to practice subtraction for the upcoming test. The test will be Thursday September 23 for both Mrs. Marcotte's and Mr. MacFarland's classes.

Open House

Last night was amazing. I really enjoyed watching the excitement in each student's eyes. I look forward to a great school year.

School starts Tuesday. Remember Mrs. Stafferia will be in the room all next week. I return September 13.

Beginning of the Year

The beginning of the year is right around the corner. I hope you all have enjoyed your summer. Please remember that Open House is September 2 at 6:00.

Our classroom is coming along and will be ready for the start of school. I can't wait for everyone to see the amazing building and our classroom.
